Warren Zevon Biografia

Warren Zevon (24 gennaio 1947 ? 7 settembre 2003) è stato un cantante e musicista rock; nacque a Chicago (USA) ma crebbe in California. Iniziò come cantante folk, senza però riscuotere successo, negli anni '60; in seguito compose le musiche per jingle pubblicitari. Era anche un buon pianista e chitarrista.Debuttò nel 1970 con Wanted Dead or Alive. Il primo successo arrivò però con gli album - prodotti da Jackson Browne - Warren Zevon (1976), con la canzone I'll Sleep When I'm Dead e Excitable Boy (1978) con Werewolwes of London.Zevon è stato un autore i cui testi sono stati apprezzati per il valore poetico ma anche di impegno sociale e dal sapore vagamente profetico. Scriveva infatti nel 1982 nella canzone The Envoy (traducibile con L'inviato o L'emissario), titolo-guida dell'album omonimo ispiratogli dai racconti di un diplomatico statunitense, Philip Habib, impegnato nell'incursione israeliana in Libano del 1982.
