Infanzia Nasce a Nutbush, vicino a Brownsville nel Tennessee (USA) il 26 novembre 1939. All'età di 10 anni canta già nel coro della chiesa della sua città, dove il padre, Richard, era pastore. Nel 1956 i genitori si separano e Anna Mae con la sorella Alline, vanno a vivere a St. Louis. Gli inizi Nella città del Missouri incontra il musicista Ike Turner. Insieme registrano Little Ann nel 1958 e nel 1960 A Fool in Love che ottiene subito un notevole successo, giungendo ai primi posti nelle classifiche internazionali. Tina e Ike si sposano alla fine del 1960 a Tijuana, ma il matrimonio viene invalidato perché Ike non ottiene il divorzio dalla prima moglie. Comunque Tina prende il cognome di Ike. Dopo una serie di insuccessi, nel 1971 Proud Mary raggiunge il quarto posto nelle classifiche e diventa uno dei capisaldi del repertorio di Ike e Tina.
