È stato il cantante della boy band Boyzone. Nel 1999 ha intrapreso la carriera da solista; 2 anni prima ha presentato l'EurofestivalIn Italia ha duettato assieme a Giorgia con We've got Tonight.Nell'ottobre del 2005, Ronan è stato nominato a Roma Ambasciatore di Buona Volontà dell'ONU; il suo compito sarà quello di portare nel mondo il messaggio della FAO.Il 5 giugno 2006 è uscito l'album intitolato "Bring You Home", che è entrato direttamente alla terza posizione della classifica degli album più venduti nel Regno Unito.Nell'edizione italiana dell'album è incluso il duetto All Over Again cantato con Rita Comisi.Nel corso della sua carriera ha piazzato ogni suo singolo nella Top10 inglese, per un totale di 11 Top10 UK hits, 3 dei quali hanno raggiunto la prima posizione.Nel 2007 si è riunito per la seconda volta con i "Boyzone", boy band irlandese, con la quale aveva iniziato la sua carriera.
