Refused Biografia

I Refused sono una band hardcore punk originaria di Umeå, in Svezia formata nel gennaio 1992 da Dennis Lyxzén, David Sandström, Pär Hansson e Jonas Lidgren. Nello stesso anno hanno rilasciato la loro prima demo, Refused. La band ha inciso un'altra demo, cinque EPs e tre album (non comprese le raccolte The Demo Compilation e The EP Compilation) prima di sciogliersi nel 1998. La formazione finale era formata da Dennis Lyxzén, David Sandström, Kristofer Steen e Jon Brännström che hanno pubblicato Songs to Fan the Flames of Discontent (1996) e l'ultimo album The Shape of Punk to Come. In questo album, sui Refused hanno influito pesantemente altre band hardcore, come Nation di Ulysses, Born Against, così come le opere di Karl Marx, di Errico Malatesta e del Situationist International. La band era anche ben conosciuta per lo stile di vita vegan e straight edge. I Refused si sciolsero quello stesso anno dopo aver consumato tutta la loro energia creativa e per voler tentare cose nuove
