Philippine Foreign Minister Arrives Here
Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Philippines Alberto Gatmaitan Romulo and his party arrived here on Tuesday. They were met at the airport by Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK Kim Yong Il and others.

Talks between DPRK, Philippine FMs
Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- Talks between DPRK Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun and Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alberto Gatmaitan Romulo were held at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Tuesday. Present there from the DPRK side were officials concerned and from the Philippine side the entourage of the secretary and the Philippine ambassador to the DPRK. At the talks both sides informed each other of the situation of their countries and exchanged views on further developing the friendly relations between the two countries and matters of mutual concern. The talks proceeded in a friendly atmosphere.

Kim Yong Nam Meets Foreign Guests
Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and had a friendly talk with Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Philippines Alberto Gatmaitan Romulo who paid a courtesy call on him and his party at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Wednesday. The Philippine foreign secretary underscored the need to boost the ties between Philippines and the DPRK in various fields and develop the bilateral relations.

Philippine FM Feted
Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- The government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea hosted a reception for the visiting Philippine secretary of Foreign Affairs and his entourage at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Tuesday. Present there on invitation were Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alberto Gatmaitan Romulo and his entourage and Philippine Ambassador to the DPRK Sonia Cataumber Brady. Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun noted in a speech at the reception that the Philippine government has expressed solidarity with the Korean people in the efforts to achieve the reunification of the country according to the historic June 15 joint declaration. The DPRK government, which regards independence, peace and friendship as the idea of its external policy, will strive to develop the good-neighborly and friendly relations with the Republic of Philippines in various fields in the principles of mutual respect for sovereignty, noninterference in the internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit in the future, too, he stressed. Alberto Gatmaitan Romulo said in a speech that the bilateral ties have been steadily strengthened in various fields after the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Philippines pay attention to developing the bilateral relations through cultural exchange and mutual visits, he stated. Referring to the possibility for developing these relations, he said that they are taking measures to this end.

Reception Hosted by Philippine Foreign Secretary Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alberto Gatmaitan Romulo hosted a reception at Pyongyang Koryo Hotel on June 20 in connection with his visit to the DPRK. Present there on invitation were Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun, Vice-Foreign Minister Kim Yong Il and others. On hand were the Philippine ambassador to the DPRK and the entourage of the secretary. Alberto Gatmaitan Romulo said in a speech at the reception that Philippines and the DPRK committed themselves to develop the bilateral relations through exchange and visits between the two parliaments, adding that an agreement on cultural cooperation inked between the two countries last year provided an opportunity for the two peoples to know better each other through cultural exchanges. He expressed hope that the cooperative relations between the two foreign ministries would grow strong. Pak Ui Chun in a speech expressed belief that the points agreed upon at the talks and contacts would be positively implemented thanks to the bilateral deep concern and common efforts to promote the development of the relations. He expressed conviction that the Philippine friends would exert great efforts for the development of the bilateral relations as desired by the two peoples in the future with good will and friendly sentiment towards the Korean people.

Philippine Foreign Secretary Leaves Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Philippines Alberto Gatmaitan Romulo and his party flew back today after wrapping up their visit to the DPRK. While staying here, they visited the old home of President Kim Il Sung in Mangyongdae, the Tower of the Juche Idea, the Arch of Triumph, the Mansudae Art Studio, Pyongyang Metro and other places.
