Lou Reed Biografia

L'esordio e i Velvet Underground Il suo primo gruppo prende il nome di The Shades. Ma il suo ingresso tra i pilastri del rock avviene con la fondazione dei Velvet Underground, gruppo che presto diventerà un cult del panorama musicale newyorkese. Lou Reed li creò nel 1966 insieme al John Cale, polistrumentista, figura chiave insieme a Lou del gruppo. Ai due si aggiunsero infine il chitarrista e bassista Sterling Morrison e la batterista Maureen Tucker (il line-up originale vedeva Angus MacLise alla batteria).Lou Reed, che è autore della maggior parte delle canzoni dei VU, entra a far parte insieme al gruppo della factory di Andy Warhol, promotore e finanziatore del primo album del gruppo (famoso per la sua copertina che ritrae una fallica banana disegnata dallo stesso Warhol e che poteva essere sbucciata) e che comprende brani celebri come Sunday Morning, Femme Fatale, Heroin, I'll be your mirror, Venus in furs, I'm waiting for the man, Black Angel's Death Song e run run run
