I Kataklysm sono un gruppo death metal canadese. Chiamano il loro stesso stile "Northern Hyperblast", riferendosi all'estrema velocità dei blast beat che il batterista inserisce nella musica. Nati nel 1992, la formazione è cambiata diverse volte. Il loro stile, nato come death metal molto grezzo, attualmente unisce lo stile del Nord-Europa chiamato death melodico con il brutal death tipicamente americano, in una sorta di unione fra At The Gates e Suffocation.
