Jim Croce Biografia

Biografia Nasce nel 1943 a Philadelphia e all'età di 18 anni, mentre frequenta l'università, impara a suonare la chitarra. Svolge diversi lavori e nel 1967 comincia a esibirsi nel circuito dei caffè di New York. Nello stesso anno esce il suo primo disco, assieme alla moglie Ingrid, che passa del tutto inosservato. Lo stesso non può dirsi del suo secondo lavoro nel 1972 che, grazie all'aiuto del suo vecchio amico Tommy West e del chitarrista Maury Muehliesen, riscosse subito un notevole successo grazie a ballate melodiche quali Operator e Photographs and Memories. Ma il vero successo arriva nel 1973 con l'album Life & Times che contiene il suo pezzo forse più famoso: Bad bad Leroy Brown, storia di un bulletto di quartiere senz'altro ripreso dai tanti personaggi da lui incontrati su e giù per l'America quando faceva il camionista. Il pezzo raggiunge la vetta delle classifiche e la strada del successo pare in discesa ma il 20 settembre di quello stesso anno muore in un incidente
