Biografia
Aghast Insane began in 2000 when Francesco (bass) asked his brother Cesare (guitar) to join him for a new project based on their passion for Metal music, after having played together in the death metal band Everlasting Reign.
The term “Aghast” comes from Edgar Allan Poe's “The Assignation”, while “Insane” comes from... well, it simply sounds good!
After several changes in the early days, the present line-up took shape: Francesco (bass), Cesare (guitar), Federico (guitar), Riccardo (vocal), Giacomo (drums).
After a rather intense live activity, the band recorded “Aghast Insane”, their first autoproduced mini-cd, in may 2003.
The demo received very good feedback from both metalheads and press (it was even awarded “Top Demo” by a couple of metal web portals).
The official presentation of the demo was done with a great show in september 2003 featuring Raza de Odio, and offering Aghast Insane the honor to play with underground legends such as Peso and John from Necrodeath and Zanna (ex-Sadist).
Aghast Insane decided to offer all the songs on their website, resulting in thounsands of downloads and an ever growing interest around the band.
The band continued playing live, also winning a couple of musical contests.
In the meanwhile, Aghast Insane embarked in a collaboration with Valerio Evangelisti,a well known Italian author of SCI-FI literature, and a great inspiration for the whole band. “Cherudek”, inspired by the book of the same name, by Valerio, was featured on “Aghast Insane” mini-cd.
In 2004 Valerio Evangelisti wrote beautiful lyrics for Aghast Insane. The song “Terrible Mother” was presented in Fano (Italy), on the 12th of August 2007, during an event dedicated to the great writer.
In october 2007 Valerio co-dedicated his new book “La luce di Orione” to the band (“To the Aghast Insane metal band, who put my imagination into music”). Thank you Valerio!
An essential period for the growth of the band was from beginning of 2005 to summer 2007, when we had the luck to have Alessandro (Icycore) as drummer. Alessandro contributed in a very effective way to the evolution of our sound, helping the band in bringing his style towards a more extreme and heavy direction.
